How will the Boy Scouts Help My Son
The various youth organizations of the world serve a common purpose. These organizations teach children how to work hard, develop morality concepts, experiment, and become independent. The boy scouts are such an organization. In the Boy Scouts young boys learn how to perform many tasks that can vary from life saving skills to survival in the wilds. They learn to start fires, perform first aid, CPR, and self-reliance based skills such as tracking. They also learn to develop knowledge of poisonous plants and animals. There is a myriad number of educational fields that the Boy Scouts utilize in their training that regular school systems do not.
The most important lessons that the Boy Scouts will impart to your son are not the knowledge of how to tie knots or survival in the wilds. The lessons that will matter most are friendship, loyalty, integrity, and the self-confidence that is garnered by knowing how to be self-reliant. The Boy Scouts instill discipline and allow for social interaction among children his own age, as well as older children. This will allow your son to actively make friends and understand how to function in a social setting. Unlike public school, there is usually time to actually socialize and interact instead of constantly having to deal with pressure to perform.
